Art Basel Qatar Unveils 82 Galleries for Its 2027 Return

Art Basel Qatar’s second edition will feature 82 galleries, 80 solo presentations and artists from across the region when it returns to Doha in January 2027.

The fair’s second edition will feature 80 solo artist presentations in Doha, with a strong focus on artistic voices from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

Art Basel Qatar is gearing up for its second edition, bringing 82 galleries from 37 countries and territories to Msheireb Downtown Doha from 28 to 30 January 2027.

Following its debut in February 2026, the international art fair has revealed a new line-up featuring 80 solo artist presentations. Preview days will take place on 26 and 27 January, with exhibitions spread across M7, Doha Design District and selected public spaces throughout Msheireb Downtown Doha.

This year’s edition will be led by artistic director Wassan Al-Khudhairi, who has developed the curatorial theme ‘between / بين’. The concept explores the connections between different cultures, histories and artistic perspectives, creating space for dialogue and exchange. Al-Khudhairi, who previously served as the founding director of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Qatar, will work closely with Art Basel’s chief artistic officer Vincenzo de Bellis.

Around half of the participating artists come from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, while more than a third of the galleries operate spaces across the region. The artist line-up includes Dana Awartani, Monira Al Qadiri, Mohammad Alfaraj, Hassan Hajjaj, Yazan Khalili, Huda Lutfi and Moataz Nasr, among others.

Several regional galleries are joining the fair, including Le LAB Gallery, which will present Moataz Nasr, Gypsum with Huda Lutfi, and Contemporary Art Platform with Monira Al Qadiri. They will appear alongside established galleries such as Athr, The Third Line, Green Art Gallery and Lawrie Shabibi.

International names including Gagosian, White Cube, David Zwirner, Lisson Gallery and Acquavella Galleries are also confirmed, with more than 30 galleries participating in Art Basel Qatar for the first time.

Beyond the exhibitions, Art Basel has announced ‘Collectors Majlis’, a new year-round initiative designed to develop the regional art market. The programme will bring together emerging collectors, galleries and art institutions through masterclasses, workshops, collection visits and cultural experiences. An invitation-only pilot will initially involve approximately 30 to 40 participants.

Presented in partnership with Qatar Sports Investments and QC+, the upcoming edition continues Art Basel Qatar’s efforts to build stronger connections between the region’s artistic community and the international art market.

Further details about the fair’s special projects and additional programming are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
